Re: Candida over growth and breast feeding thrush

For the nipple cracks, apply Aloe vera gel. It promotes rapid healing. However, it has a bitter taste. After using it, check to see if the baby is reacting to the bitter taste.

If the baby refuses to drink after using Aloe vera gel, try applying honey to the nipple before feeding.

Honey can also be used to heal skin cracks, instead of Aloe vera gel. Aloe vera gel dries fairly quickly after applying it, but honey remains sticky, so it is not as convenient.

Another option is to use a cabbage poultice. You need to chop the cabbage up fine, and/or crush it, so the juice from the cabbage gets to the nipple. Apply the poultice to the nipple after feeding baby. You will need to work out some way of holding it on the nipple and leaving it there, for example, putting it in a bra.

These things should heal the nipple cracks, but may not eliminate the trush.

In another post, I get the impression you have constipation. Use slippery elm for constipation.
