Grace - I hope you read this, I see this post is a year old..
But MAGNESIUM is, I have discovered, not easily absorbed in the gut ["first pass liver issue"] however, I read about TOPICAL MAGNESIUM.
It works!! - muscle cramps are much reduced, no major ones and I am not woken up at night by leg cramps.
No extra headaches, by the way. Topical mag. will not likely interact with headache mechanisms.
A $20 bottle of Magnesium Oil that I simply rub on my calves has done wonders for me. I won't mention a brand, I am not selling anything. There is a "gel" too but i see it has lesss magnesium content.
