The association present there is most likely to be between gluten and Alzheimers/Dementia. Most whole grains are associated with a reduced risk of Alzheimers, but gluten has been associated with degeneration, inflammation, and atrophy of the brain. How the body handles gluten and grains in the intestinal tract may be another contributing factor.
