What's not to like?

What's not to like?

They speak English there, pretty much everyone. So that's easy.

It's modern and civilized. Essentially none of those drawbacks of "backwards" countries. Paved roads and sidewalks, clean free public toilets, efficient public transportation. SAFEST country in the WORLD. Impeccably clean.

On the equator - great tropical weather year 'round. Humid, too (I like humidity).

DELICIOUS food. Fresh tropical fruit and vegetables, very cheap. All kinds of ethnic cuisine. Indian, Japanese, Chinese, Thai, Indonesian, Korean, Malaysian, Singaporean. Curry heaven. Not to mention, plenty of western choices like Italian, Greek, Lebanese, Mexican, American. The average food there is much cheaper that the USA.
Oh and even though I was eating delicious food all the time I actually lost weight, about 10-15 lbs from what I had been in the USA. Came back to states, gained some back.

Friendly, mild-mannered people. Least corrupt government. Overall general racial harmony.

Lots of entertainment. Good symphony orchestra. Lots of Christians and churches over there (#1 missionary-sending country per capita in the world). Movies are cheaper than in America. Just walking around town is fun, too. There's a Chinatown, there is a Little India, a Malay Village, etc. Lots of shopping. Large library system. Big "Barnes and Noble" there.

One of only 2 cities in the world that has tropical rainforest in the city (other is Rio de Janiero, I believe). You can connect with nature, go bicycling, rock climbing, etc.

Only a short trip away from many other asian countries, good for traveling.
One of the top airports and airlines in the world.
Lots of ex-patriates from USA and many other countries. Good place to meet people from all over the world.

My cousin is from Montana and loves the "great outdoors" lifestyle. However, she very much enjoyed living in Singapore for 2 years. My whole family loves it.

It's not "PERFECT" but no place is. It is a great place to live. Perhaps not for everyone. On a side note, it is not the most exciting place to go for vacation. It's good for a short look-see for a few days if you are on your way somewhere else in the region but not exactly a full-week's destination in itself.

A safe, yummy, comfortable, family-friendly, modern, fun place to live!
