Re: MH florida oranges
Greetings MH
HELLO
Flprida oranges are coming up on the trucks. My question for u sir is this. I know u said last yr you got the navels and they weren't to bad. I want to get some of these florida oranges this yr but if I wait for the honeybells I risk bad driving weather from Iowa.
OK
So tell me are the navels nice and juicey, are they good for juicing?
THE NAVELS LOOK GOOD THIS YEAR, THEY WERE $18 A BOX AND NEXT MONTH THE HONEY BELLS SHOULD ARRIVE.
THE CHEAPEST ORANGES ARE FOUND IN THE RESTAURANT DEPOT STORES, SOMETIMES THEY HAVE FLORIDA ORANGES AND OTHERWISE OUT OF COUNTRY ORANGES AND ALWAYS THE GRADE JUST FOR JUICING IN THAT THEY ARE NOT ALL ORANGE AND ALWAYS SMALL..AND MOST LIKELY SOLD TO BARS.
$18 A BOX IS EXPENSIVE AND ABOUT WHAT WE HAVE PAID FOR THE PAST FEW YEARS.....AND IF YOU KEEP THEM COOL OR IN A REFRIGERATOR, I HAVE GOTTEN THEM TO STAY EATABLE FOR 5+ MONTHS AND I HAVE NEVER GOTTEN STORE PURCHASED ORANGES TO EVER LAST THAT LONG.
IF YOU DRIVE TO FLORIDA, ALONG INTERSTATE 75 YOU CAN FIND ORANGE GROVES THAT PRESS THEIR OWN ORANGE JUICE AND SELL IT BY THE GALLON...IF I LIVED CLOSER, I WOULD OBTAIN 100 GALLON A YEAR AND FREEZE IT LIKE APPLE JUICE CAN BE DONE.
BLESSINGS,
MH
I know the ones around here in the store sure are not they are hard and you don't get much juice out of them.
sure would appreciate you r feed back on this.
blessings!!
THE HONEY BELLS ARE 1/2 ORANGE, 1/2 GRAPEFRUIT I GUESS AND SOMETIMES HAVE SOME SIZE TO THEM AND NORMALLY FULL OF JUICE...THE NAVELS TO AVOID ARE THE CA NAVELS THAT HAVE A THICK SKIN...THE FLORIDA NAVEL NORMALLY HAS A THIN SKIN AND JUICY....I GUESS BUY 1 BOX, TRY IT AND THEN DECIDE TO BUY MORE OR NOT IS THE BEST ADVICE.
