Re: Mercola, Weston Price wrong on Soy "dangers"
You could not be more right on progesterone and libido. I watch my cycle and track my fertility through the signs of estrogen and progesterone- diminished libido/touch sensitivity can be guaranteed during high progesterone/low estrogen times.
I did find an "arousal fluid" that helps during that time of the month with the following ingredients:
PA-Free Borage Seed Oil, Evening Primrose Oil,
Both of these oils are used to increase blood flow and reduce inflammation.
Angelica Extract,
Angelica is frequently used in hormone formulas usually in the cured form known as dong quai. Angelica is a phytoestrogen source and blood thinner. Although I don't recommend it due to its coumarins and psoralens that increase photosensitivity.
Coleus Extract,
Coleus also promotes circulation and reduces inflammation. It would also help prevent water retention.
Vitamin C,
Adrenal support.
Vitamin E.
The role of vitamin E on hormones is not clear. It does effect hormones though as it has been found that an excess of 400IU daily can cause hormone imbalances.
I can tell the first two ingredients are estrogenic. What are the others doing?
Is there a way to make something like this myself at home? The product is fairly expensive.
First I would drop the borage and evening primrose. These oils are very unstable and go rancid quickly. They are often solvent extracted as well with hexane. Magnesium malate would be a safer substitute.
To replace the angelica you could use licorice root, which will also make it taste better and support the adrenals.
You can keep the coleus and add some nettle leaf to prolong its effects. This will also supply natural vitamin C.
You will get plenty of E from your diet. Or you can add dandelion leaf, which is a good source of vitamin E and phytoestrogens.
