I agree. I too dislike proselytizing and dietary dogmatism.
At the same time, like you, I feel it is good to stay open to what we can use in what people are preaching out there. So I pick and choose and do what resonates with me and my body.
For example, Ramiel Nagel says "no fruit." I say,
"no way." :-) I will continue to eat fruit daily (mostly blended in green smoothies) although not in huge amounts. But I've adopted some of the other ideas based on Weston Price's work. Drinking raw milk was a big factor in my quitting alcohol, for one thing.
And we don't have to be slaves to our health, I think it's fine to eat something like pizza or other indulgences,on occasion.
