I believe bearing fruit is the most important. The Bible is clear that we cannot do this unless we abide in Christ. The gifts of the Spirit are great. They are very valuable if used properly. The gifts are exciting, but they do not prove spirituality like I feel some would have us believe in error. Some receive gifts and then for various reasons sit them aside rather than use them. Why do people do this? Well, some are bogged down with the cares of life. Some are just too lazy to use them. Some are satisfied that they now have them and do not care about any more. Some may just want to use them for show as pride creeps in. I can relate to some of this, but I won't go there tonight. Like I said in another post I have a long way yet to go when it comes to spiritual things.

Now, with the fruits of the Spirit, it is totally different. We bear fruit naturally when we abide in Christ as He is the vine. I believe bearing fruit is a sign of spirituality and I sure would like to see more of it in my life. The only way to bear more fruit is to abide deeper in Christ. I don't believe we should have to struggle to bear fruit. After all, I have never seen a fruit tree of any kind struggling to bear its fruit and I have seen plenty of fruit trees in my time. I have never heard even one tree grunt and groan trying to bear fruit as I walked by it. I have seen trees with all kinds of fruit on them and some of it even fell to the ground. Some trees were heavy with fruit. It all happened naturally. This is the way I want to bear spiritual fruit. It will only come by abiding in Christ. Tweet
