Re: Losing a Few Inches
Hi Siman,
If I do a three-day fast that I won't enter the fat burning zone, as it starts from day 4 onwards.
Actually even though you are not entering into ketosis until about 2 or 3 days into your fast, you will burn a fair amount of fat in addition to depleting your body of the glucose and glycogen stores, just as you would on a daily basis given the right conditions.
Can someone explain to me, how on previous 14, 21 day fasts whilst paying attention to my weight daily. On days 1 to 3. I did lose weight.
Even though you were not in ketosis you would have burned the weight of some fat along with the weight of some carbs that were in your system, not to mention the probable loss of some water content and intestinal contents along with other minute incidentals.
The weight came off at a rate of 1 kg every day for the first 7 days and then half a kilo etc....
I don't understand, if days 1 to 3 are not fat burning zone than what weight is coming off, it can't be water as I am drinking.
Actually it can be water as you can eliminate more than you drink as will most commonly be the case in the early days of a fast due to at least two factors that come to mind. First of all, water accompanies the glycogen you are burning and secondly the elimination of excess sodium in the system will be accompanied by the water that the sodium was causing the body to retain.
If I do a five day fast and abdominal exercises on days four and five. Then I should lose the inches. I desire.?
To be perfectly honest i would not expect any enduring miracles in so short a time and much of what you see at four or five days will be temporary losses such as the water and intestinal content mentioned above. Also it is said that abdominal exercises build ab muscles and help add definition (in a lean enough individual), but do not specifically burn fat in that region. The fat burning is accomplished in other ways including eating in such a way as to promote fat burning (one way of which is fasting), building muscle so your calories are utilized towards that end instead of going towards fat stores... and various types of cardio including high intensity interval training.
