Carcinoma Of The Caecum
My Father is suffering from cancer of the Caecum. it was detected in Aug' 2010.
A Large metabolically active mass was seen invovling the ceacum and was extended to the right ilio-psoas muscle.
InNov' 2010, he was operated [(R)Hemicolectomy was done] and the tumor was removed
A month after the operation the patienthad to start with chemotherapy (cycle of 6). He couldnot sustain the side effects of the therapy. so the cycle had to be stoped in middle.
after a CT scan in May 2011, the reports said that there was a recurrence in the right psoas muscle and adjecent retroperitoneum with adherent bowel loops.
coz of which the patientwas asked to under go Rediation therapy for a month.
Now, after having a whole body PET/CT scan done. The reports say that "An ill defined hypodence mildly enhancing perihepatic lesion is seen adjecnt to sengments 4A and 5 of the liver sarrounding the gall bladder. A Fairly large heterogeneously enhancing centrally necrotic soft tissue is seen involving the right ilio-psoas muscle, extending into adjcent retroperitoneum. The mid segment of the right ureter is anteriorly displaced and compressed by a soft tissue with resultant mild proximal hydroureteronephrosis. The mass also invovles the right quadratus lumborum muscle associated with sisgnificant erosive changes invovling the transverse processes of the L2 and L3 vertebrae on the right side."
This is the present condition of the patient. the doctors suggests the patient to undergo a small surgery for the ureter. and start with chemotherpy.
pls help and suggest any alternative (if any)
