Re: Coconut oil as lubricant

My husband and I started using coconut oil for lubricant about 4 months ago and love it! We also use it as massage oil. I haven't had any problems with yeast infections since I started using it as a lube and that had been a monthly problem for me for years. If you aren't a fan of coconut, but really need a safe and natural lubricant try a few different brands before giving up. Some coconut oils have more of a coconut oil taste or scent than others. There is bound to be one out there that you will like. We started initially using the store brand coconut oil from our health food store, but heating it every time we wanted to use it and having to spoon it out was a pain. We recently started using a product called SemPure. It is coconut oil, only it stays liquid at room temperature. It has helped put the spontaneity back in our bedroom, but still keep me yeast infection free.

One big bonus of coconut oil as lubricant is that it stays on in water. So it is a great alternative to silicone lubes if you want to have a romantic time in the hot tub or pool. If you plan to use condoms and coconut oil for lube you will need to use a non-latex condom. The coconut oil is fine on the lambskin and polyurethane condoms, but can cause latex to break.
