EDIT God is not part of THE EMPIRE OF "time" (not 'empirical').
Probably the largest impediment to understanding God is that He is ETERNITY, not "TIME" ("time" causes PHYSICAL existence,....and can be MEASURED,...it is empirical).
In the O.T., the Jews had only The Father of creation to worship (of course The Father's spirit was there also, which He poured out on Israel, but those worshiper's didn't receive His spirit of peace/love very well, did they?).
The Jews only had 'PARTIAL God', not GOD IN ENTIRETY (because Jesus had not yet been revealed). When Jesus came to earth, 'COMPLETE GOD' was revealed to humanity (JESUS is 'the reavealing WORD' that came in the flesh and dwelt among us).
.......(scripture is the "word of truth" that we should rightly handle, we need to finally realize this).
"the WHOLE fulness of diety"......(Jesus is what some call "the trinity", "God is ONE", Galatians 3:20).
Jesus came in the "fulness of TIME", Ephes. 1:10 (the end/completion of "time") and ushered in the AGE OF ETERNITY (this is no longer the age of "time", time is PHYSICAL existence, NOT SPIRITUAL 'eternity LIFE', John 14:6 "I am...THE life").
PROPHECY was meant for the Jews (they existed in the age of TIME).
Revelations can include SOME relevance for US, the true worshiper (a day is as a thousand years, "neither thirst" Rev. 7:16, "living water"). Is Revelations a book of 'FUTURE' events (in "eternity", there is no such thing as "FUTURE").
Neither is God 'energy' or 'matter'. God cannot be RATIONALIZED ("logic" and rationality cannot be applied to the understanding ["PROOF"] of God).
God is not imaginary nor the figurehead of collective peaceful human thought, God is a 'cosmic' reality (THE true reality, not a perceptive fantasy of good will).
We each live the present part of our final destiny every day whether "in Jesus" or not,....if you have (and live) a "hell" state of mind, that is going to be your FINAL destiny/eternity. If you have/live a "heaven"ly state of mind, your final destiny will be "heaven" (city of God).
Right now "the heaven" is being shaken...
"so that what cannot be shaken will remain" (Hebrews 12:27).
