Re: media in an uproar over media - what do they want this time?
Of course the media is responsible for their own ethical demise, they betrayed themselves by being weak and accepting government control, but I can't help also faulting the public for 'pleading' with (or should I say 'leading/persuading them') to give us what we want.
Most of the older generations, of course, want real news (yeah, right,.....stock market money is better), but it is the younger generations who really drive the RATINGS (but even the older generations were 'dope smokers')...."dope smokers" aren't so successful/able in REALLY teaching 'family values' and neighborly caring to younger generations.
Well, as politically incorrect as I am, it seems obvious to me that this present generation of youth and young parents just doesn't CARE the way people used to care about things. Now everybody has
Cell Phone s so they don't have to speak to each other face to face while they "sext" each other and use all kinds of home made drugs from the drug cabinet in the bathroom or the candy store, etc. and electronic games of war killing, etc. (where do they ever get time to participate in or even address reality or actually CARE about reality?).
....so the media gives us WHAT WE WANT (Hollywood gossip and "yada, yada, yada").
On 6/3/2010, I wrote a post about something that was on my mind (the great SILENCE from the Gulf Coast BP Oil Spill).
For more than a month, I thought that residents from the Gulf Coast would be pouring on to the internet and into all the media outlets explaining/complaining about how they need more help from Washington........well, it NEVER HAPPENED, not one peep!.....(how could we protest or lobby the politicians in New York or other states to increase assistance to them if we have no idea what's going on?).
Well, I'm no activist or leader, but I thought it would be helpful if there was a forum for the BP fiasco, so I sneakily/subtly tried to give some activist/leader who would know how to 'stir' some kind of action (I simply DO NOT know how to be a leader) about having a forum.
So, I finally wrote the post on 6-3-10 (I am not sure why, maybe I could use it as 'practice' to actually do something).
In that post, I wrote.....
"Likely, there will soon be an "Oil Spill" forum here as things get worse (and probably many all over the internet)."
Well, I guess somebody actually read that and suggested that there should be a forum (the "Oil Spill forum" began on the 14th of the month).
I said "Hooray, hooray, now someone will actually tell us what is going on down there and we'll be able to help"......but NO, it never happened the way I had hoped it would. The forum simply filled up with what amounts to "Gossip News Stories" (it was like sitting by the phone.....no RESIDENTS called). My fellow American simply doesn't care to interact with their countrymen,....people just don't care about reality anymore the way you and I learned to (even if it means asking for help).
Well, the media saw this also, and they are just giving us what we want (to their own obsolescence and loss of self-respect).
