Good question. i guess it depends how the tea is made, and how the capsules are manufactured. I tried making tea using tea bags of milk thistle and after letting the tea bags steep for very long it seemed like little of the milk thisle got into the water. Other herbs seem to do well when used to make tea. I try to avoid extracts as many have large amounts of alcohol in them. Some like to use essential oils, although some of these can be much too strong, and perhaps dangerous to use.
