Pushing on Through... Days 32, 33, and 34-edit

When I have those bad days, and I find it hard to keep going, I like to put on this song.  This version was put together after Bob died.  They gave it a steady dance groove but his original was a more laid-back skank.  I like this one though, cause of its boogie.  Here are the lyrics:

Woh oh ah push on through Woh!

Lord I got to keep on moving

Lord I got to get on down

Lord I've got to keep on moving

Where I can't be found, where I can't be found

Lord they coming after me

I've been accused on my mission

JAH knows you shouldn't do

For hanging me they were willing yeah! yeah!

And that's why I've got to get on thru

Lord they coming after me

Lord I got to keep on moving

Lord I got to get on down

Lord I've got to keep on moving

Where I can't be found

Lord they're coming after me

I know someday we'll find that piece

Of land somewhere not nearby Babylon

The war will soon be over and Africa

Will unite the children who liveth in

Darkness have seen the great light

I've got two boys and a woman

And I know they won't suffer now

JAH forgive me for not going back

But I'll be there anyhow

Yes I'll be there anyhow

Lord I got to keep on moving

Lord I got to get on down

Lord I've got to keep on moving

Where I can't be found, where I can't be found

Lord they coming after me

This song tells the story of someone who has been wrongly accused of a crime, who has fled for their life, and is being pursued by the man.  This is a typical theme in many of Bob's songs.  He has some roots in the African American spirituals of the south and this song could just as easily be about an escaped slave, hiding out in the swamp, pig-headed plantationeers pursuing him with packs of savage dogs.  We should all know the story.  But all of this is just the narrative, the setting and the characters.  What the song is really about, the theme of the song, the vibe, is someone who is facing a great struggle, who is tired and wants to stop and rest, but cannot or will fall victim to their adversary.  And they are lamenting, lamenting to the Lord, and trying to strengthen their resolve.  I gotta push on through.

Today is Sunday, day 34.  I start liver week again tomorrow.  I had been planning on resting through this passing weekend, but come last Thursday I found myself feeling noticeably worse than before I started the break.  I had lower energy, my tendons were hurting, and the muscle twitches were creeping back in. [edit- Uny said this might happen, and it did] So, I bucked "break time" and resumed the program on Friday.  So, three days or so of a break, no more.  I'm feeling better today, though I dealt with some bad die-off this morning.

I've continued to pass worms this week, but I've also been taking olive leaf powder.

My smashed hand is getting better slowly.  I can use it a little more but it's quick to pain me.  Not the setback I (or my wife) needed.

My stomach troubles seem to have passed.  That may be the one good thing that came of the break.

My new Aquasana showerhead is rad.  It has ten times the pressure output of my prior POS.  So, that means more intense hot and more intense cold.

The sun is making a good stand this time around.  However, he is still accosted daily by the diabolic spraying machines.  Even so, I take great delight in his warmth.

When I started this program, May 24th was the 60 day mark, which was what I'd hoped to make it to for the first round.  I definitely will, and maybe even more before taking a real break.  I marked it on my calender with a pictogram of Mt. Zion.

Why?  So that when I need inspiration to keep going I could play this song:

I am on the rock and then I check a stock

I have to run like a fugitive to save the life I live

I'm gonna be Iron like a Lion in Zion (repeat)

Iron Lion Zion

I'm on the run but I ain't got no gun

See they want to be the star

So they fighting tribal war

And they saying Iron like a Lion in Zion

Iron like a Lion in Zion,

Iron Lion Zion

I'm on the rock, (running and you running)

I take a stock, (running like a fugitive)

I had to run like a fugitive just

to save the life I live

I'm gonna be Iron like a Lion in Zion (repeat)

Iron Lion Zion, Iron Lion Zion, Iron Lion Zion

Iron like a Lion in Zion, Iron like a Lion in Zion

Iron like a Lion in Zion

Again, the narrative of this song is similar to the last.  Another story of someone on the run.  But whereas the last song seemed to come from someone who is tired and really needing to rest, this song is coming from someone who is in stride.  They have momentum and are determined to reach their goal.  This version was also put together at the same time as the above song.

Enjoy.  See you guys tomorrow.
