At the time of Chernobyl, the Soviet government probably handled things the same way, but that was no real solution.

The German government today is still having a problem with RADIOACTIVE BOAR. No doubt, the effects of radiation are still present in the population (young and old) and in all the environment, but since boar are a traditional staple and also overpopulated, they are regularly checked before consumption.
