Re: Exfoliative Chelitis(I have swolen lips, swolen glands in the lower lip, never ending peeling)
I would say less than 10 out of hundreds of admitted sufferers have claimed to be cured, and you already know about montrealhomegrown, from the sound of things. His cure was more than just dieting, and took much longer than 2 weeks to see results.
I've had this for over four years. We have a fair amount in common, except for your swelling, steroids, and oozing. I have swollen (salivary?) glands on the inside of my lower lip, and lines on the inside of my cheeks, which match up to my teeth, apparently caused by sucking. I don't think I've had an allergic reaction, but I've described the many factors that I think may have caused this condition here and on a wiki I created. I have also catalogued the various cure claims that have appeared here and on other forums. You can find the links by clicking on my profile image.
Some people simply discovered they had an allergy and over time, the condition lessened in severity. A couple folks who lived healthier lifestyles also had stress reduction techniques, breathing work, and regular exercise as part of their regime. Others described some topical treatment as being effective, including lip balms, but never returned to update people on their status or to show before and after pictures to prove their claim.
This forum has gone a bit dead, most likely as hundreds are still afflicted by the condition have little hopeful info to post. Hopefully many are trying not to focus as much on their condition and are addressing the stress and unhappiness in their lives. My last posts described how I felt acidic foods and drinks quickly worsened my condition, and an alkaline diet and no alcohol gradually improved things. However, the condition persists for me as well. But life goes on, and there are much worse (and better) things for me to focus on these days.
I may finally break down and get tested for allergies or
food sensitivities . I was tested for Candida twice, and the first time I came up positive for an internal overgrowth, and the second time (after 6 months of dieting) I had none. Don't rely on the spit test. The home Candida test is actually fairly cheap and private in comparison to many other treatments and doctor's visits.
Good luck determining your cause, just don't try everything at once!
Peace,
C.S.
