Possible Ruined / Some Good Water Kefir Grains
The water kefir grains I received I soaked in RO water for 12-24 hours, and the 1st half turned out good but the 2nd half of them I tried to rehydrate aren't doing anything after setting them in RO water and old Domino confectioners
Sugar {same stuff I got my other ones going in}.
Do you know why the 2nd set don't seem to be alive? Maybe I need to let them sit longer. I just can't understand why the first batch seemed to take right off but the 2nd batch aren't doing anything, yet they came from the same packet of dehydrated grains.
My 1st set are doing great. I have them in a gallon wide mouth jug with organic turbinado sugar, a piece of ginger and some organic dried apricots, and it's bubbling already and smells like it's going to be really good. I saw some lady make this recipe on youtube the other day, and copied her.
Is 1 TBS of
Sugar per cup of water a good ratio?
