Pinworms

Hi

I am new to this forum, although I have been reading it for a few months now.

Basically, I have pinworms since last august, so 8 months with them.

When I first got them, I was breastfeeding my child and was given an infant dose of some drug (I think it was piperazine), which didn't work. Since then I stopped breastfeeding, and have been on various rounds of mebendazole, along with my family. My daugther and my baby have had them on and off (both have them right now) and my husband denies any symptoms, doesn't seem affected. i think I am re-infecting my children because I cannot get rid of them and have them all over my body. I was not too worried until I found them in my nose, ears and eyes. I also have an itchy scalp, and itchy skin in my torso. The itchiness starts in the afternoon and then again during the night. If I wear dark knickers I can see a little whitish dust, which I assume are the eggs, gathered in the seams.
I wash my hands compulsively, and have dry skin and eczema in my fingers due to this. I shower every morning, change my underwear everyday (always have done anyway), sometimes twice.

I am desperate and depressed, I have been to the GP countless times, have been told I am imagining things, and have had various tests coming back negative. This is destroying my family, it's been going on for too long. I have 2 children, and it is affecting my relationship with them. I am scared of my 12 month-old baby touching my face, my nose, my mouth. I get hysterical if my daughter comes to the table without having washed her hands and get really nasty to her... I cry everyday. I am wide awake at 4 in the morning, don't get enough sleep. My maternity leave finishes soon, I am due to return to work in 2 weeks time, I don't know what to do.

Can anybody offer some help?

Thanks for reading.
