Re: Why do some supps make me cold? And does anyone know if Lysine increases thyroid function?

Yes those are my thoughts too Ginagirl, but any amount of Iodine I would try would make me cold. For a long time, the dose that worked for me was 1/2 Iodoral tablet, 200 mcg selenium meth., 200 mg Magnesium citrate & fish oil, but eventually it got to where my body wasn't tolerating that anymore. I even tried Iosol - got cold. So I thought my body had become saturated and that maybe I only needed it once in a while. But then I noticed that there were some (not all, but some) supplements that also made me unbearably cold - painfully cold.

I thought maybe these supplements all had some similar factor - like the ability to chelate (and were possibly pulling out some nutrient I needed), clean out my liver? ...something!
But since stumbling upon the correlation that when I take lysine - I warm up - no matter what else I've taken, now leads me to think that lysine is either something I needed and that it has an effect on the thyroid - which I did find that there was one study it increased thyroid function in rats, but there wasn't very much written on it.
Maybe it would also be a good companion supplement to iodine?
It seems to be for me anyway and I think I should seriously consider taking it daily, along with the iodine, selenium, magnesium and fish oil.
This is a huge find for me since I had become dependent on Maca to warm me up and keep me functional and I was looking for something to balance my hormones better.

I just wish I had found more information on lysine and how it works because mostly what has been posted on it is it's effectiveness to prevent herpes outbreaks and it's ability to improve immune system function.
That's ok though. The important thing is that it does seem to be helping my endocrine system. I am warm and can take my Iodine again and I can gain back my quality of life.
