Paper towels and Kleenex..are not my friends

Appalling damage being done to glass slides!
I can etch glass with paper towels? *stare*

...using common paper products for cleaning
optics and labware is not verrra' thrrrrrifty. least lesson learned on inexpensive slides..
[..and plastic eyeglass lenses..]
not a $300 dollar hemacytometer . [essentially a finely
scribed and channeled slide used for doing blood counts.]

I don't own one..yet. Just as well. It would have been
trashed by now with my current cleaning technique.

Time to pony up a few extra dollars for optical grade
glass wipes. Leave the Bounty for cleaning up dust

**it's phenomenal how badly Kleenex and it's copy cats
shed lint...I moved over to paper towels to cut down on
linting..but paper towels apparently hide enough
micro grit to act as sanding paper when applied to glass.
