I have a question about tattoos...when anyone has a minute:)

I have an old friend from school whom I started speaking with recently and he happens to have A LOT of tattoos. In fact he's going in (or has already gone in today, I'm not sure) for another very large tattoo on his leg.

Question: Are these as bad as I think they are? 'Cause I think they may be very bad, right? Like dumping toxins, dyes, metals and god knows what into the bloodstream???:(

I found an article from the Mayo clinic that does talk about some risks, but it doesn't really make the case I'd like to make:

I'm still looking for solid evidence if I can find it!

I assume he's happy with his tattoo artist since he keeps going back and has not had any major complications. I worry because he lost both of his parents back in 2003- his dad to parkinsons, his mom to cancer. He seems to be still in good health (he's 34) but I know that these things can take time to develop. I do have a good rapport with him so I'm sure if I had some solid data and broached the subject well, I could possibly get my point across...I just don't want to sound like I'm intruding ya know?!

Thanks so much,
