Turmeric and Ginger
Ginger is to stop nausea, reflux and general digestive problems associated with consuming the olive oil and lemon juice potion. I and several others have concluded that it does this very well.
Turmeric was not my first choice for a catalyst and there are a number of bitter herbs that reportedly increase the flow of bile and make the gallbladder contract vigorously. Dandelion root which I have used increases bile flow four fold and turmeric by an unmeasured amount.
I just but two and two together from what I had read. Turmeric is inexpensive and was on our spice rack.
Dandelion root is a cholagogue (enhances bile flow), thus improving conditions such as liver congestion, bile duct inflammation, hepatitis, gallstones, and jaundice. Dandelion increases bile flow by:
1) Affecting the liver directly to cause an increase in bile production and flow to the gallbladder
2) Exerting a direct effect on the gallbladder by causing a contraction and release of stored bile.
Turmeric helps to protect the liver against damage, fights inflammation and oxidation, aids in digestion by stimulating bile flow and supports liver detoxification.
Ginger contains 8 liver-protecting compounds. It aids digestion by stimulating bile flow and contains more than 12 antioxidant compounds.
