Re: Finished Fast this eve - 54 lbs gone
Hi OrchidSpice and thanks for your kind words! Hope this helps:
"I would like to know if you ever did feel hunger in, say, the second half of the fast, like the last 20-30 days? Does hunger really go away completely or does it wax and wane? Maybe triggered by smells or visuals?"
Hunger as you know, disappears for the most part after a certain amount of time, but it does return every so often. Food smells are a definite trigger for me which is why I tried so hard to avoid seeing or smelling food of any sort.
A sharp hunger pain here and there, maybe a few times a day on some days, but for the most part just an "empty" feeling, if you know what I mean. I remember even on day 30 or so feeling mild hunger so it never goes away completely but you do get used to it.
"Can you talk more about the boredom? You and ALB both mention staying busy and not thinking about the fast. It sounds like so much of the hurdle is psychological because of food habits."
Psychological, yes!!! Every day is a battle in the fast war LOL If you are not completely prepared mentally you will fail. It is SOOO easy to slip up and "convince" yourself you can cheat just once but then, it's all over. Staying preoccupied is key, and if your mind is trying to talk you into eating then you are one step from losing everything. Keep busy, keep going, and learn to switch your mind into thinking about something, anything else other than food and eating. It is all in your mind!
Take care!
