Re: Finished Fast this eve - 54 lbs gone

Hi thinkh20 and thanks! Here you go:

"1. Did you start exercising right off the bat or did you wait a couple days into the fast before doing that?"

I tried to exercise every day for at least 30 minutes but as you can guess it's not easy at first. The first 3 days I was mostly in bed but I managed to get at least 15 minutes of light cardio on my stationary bike. It became easier and I recommend trying to workout even in the beginning. Get plenty of rest afterward of course.

"2. How did you cope when other people were eating around you?"

Thia was definitely a tough part LOL I had to grow a little bit of an ego here. Like, 'well they're getting fat eating that crap while I get thin by the minute!" Not outloud of course!! If I was confronted for not eating I told them I was not feeling too great and just went for water. At family dinners people got on my case. Stand your ground is all I can say and try to duck out of gettogethers with pushy people. My hubby knew I was fasting so I told him to keep his evil pizza or lasagna etc in the kitchen and I didn't let him eat in the bedroom ever. Just keep food awaaaaayyy lol

"3. Do you feel younger? sleep better? have better mentality after the fast?"

I feel great really. I'm only 25 ya know hehe! I sleep much better and feel my anxiety is under better control than previously. I had some issues with that since my dad died over the summer but I feel much more balanced and clear since I fasted. I've always been a little mental but yes fasting helped I think!

"4. Did you use any laxatives/pills or anything to help wiht the fast?"

No pills whatsoever. On an empty stomach I cannot handle them and they make me feel like puking, even tiny vitamins. I've never used laxatives before.

"5. At times, i find the fast long and boring which ends up with me breaking it. how did you manage?"

Yes I hear you. Fasting is boring and I missed food a lot, even being around it and smelling it cooking I found to be a hard thing to get past. That is why I stress that you keep busy. Always be engrossed in a new hobby or distraction. I was always DOING something, movies, music, gaming, shopping, talking on the phone and texting. Surfing the net. Always have something to do or you will inevitably wander to the kitchen, trust me!

I find that avoiding counting the days, minutes, seconds. Obsessing over hunger real or imagined, is best. Just do it, don't think about it. Don't keep planning things that will never happen over and over. Just start. Now! =)

Be well!

Icy
