Vegan after vegan are now publishing books about their 15 - 20 plus years of struggling with health issues, and doing *permanent* damage to their health.
"The Vegetarian Myth" is a good read about one such former vegetarian.
More doctors are specializing in *recovering* vegetarians\vegans... with chronic health issues.

My grandmother had problems when she was a young mother and her doctor told her to eat liver once a week - back when doctors knew these things... end of her health issues... 98 years old and counting.
Grandpa would cook those dinners every week, even though they were pricey for them - they were DIRT poor and had to raise the bulk of their own foods... including chickens and goats... and even then, the addition of the beef liver *cured* her.
We have long since F'd up with the way we raise animals... and it is why most of the commercial offerings are so very bad for us. However, we have F'd up the way we grow the vast majority of our plant foods too.
The whole commercial food industry is F'd up.
Heck, I bought a whole, free range chicken from whole foods, in order to compare it to a free range *fresh* chicken I get from a local farmer... even that difference was night and day.
Let the free range chickens eat the bugs dirt, and seeds like they are supposed to... not *grain* feeds.
