Re: Alkalosis Symptoms
"But alkalosis is more of a concern as it is more dangerous."
Agreed. But let's agree, or be very clear, (so as not to unduly frighten readers and leave them hanging with no ladder) that alkalosis is RARE- and is in fact almost always a LATER stage of acidosis, (?) and a truly critcal one--if in fact we can juggle two these terms about as freely as we seem to be doing.
Naturally, the alkalosis that might be induced by the baking-soda-drinking mineral-depleted acidic person, is a serious concern. Such a person is mineral-deficient, surely toxic, and probably/certainly constipated/dehydrated.
these together are a prescriptin for alaklosis at some point--as the body's last-ditch saving grace. (!!)
This is what seems to not be being said. The body is struggling to balance, and the pendulum swings wildly, when 'wild' is what's going on.
I used to see on the moreless forum where poeple would test their pH and say "but I'm alkaline!" but they were very sick. Inevitably, if they remineralized, the ph became more balanced. (But FIRST, might/usually would swing "acid" too, for a time. In fact, an acid swing is a sign of the body "dumping acid", which it will NOT do, if it lacks all resources to buffer this. So, the whole thing is almost always the opposite of how it appears...
Alkalosis though, is a serious state. Before that comes, there will be a low pH. So the thing to do is just to work on regulating the pH.)
And the big point is, (from this article, anyway) DON'T drink baking soda to artificially alter the pH. Agree?
I recall seeing my father doing this years and years ago, when I was a kid--I didn't put it togther, naturally. He ws acidic then, and was into mega-dosing with vitamin C. Some years later, nutritionally-depleted, and alcoholic, he had cancer, and died at 60, essentially malnourished, more than anything. I fully believe, if I could have got him doeing something like the Gerson approach, he could have regained his health--but we have to accept that sometimes, that's not what people want, or have 'in the cards'.
In any case, for everyone, high-density nutrients from whole foods are the way to ph-balance. It takes a bit of time...And good elimination is key. Right? The more natural the better. No baking soda.
