Re: Nettle leaf serious side effect
My 2 cents: my strong feeling is, you can't travel with one foot in two boats, at once. I think when you are taking drugs it is very hard to know what affect something herbal will have--
And nettles are, more than anything else, entirely nourishing! Like good green grass is to cows. But this could throw YOU off, since the body is ALREADY thrown off-kilter. This is the important piece of the picture.
And this "serious side effect" of course works to the advantage of the drug companies...and is the reason they can support (and others will pass on) the idea that herbs seriously might harm you. Granted, there are stronger herbs that are far more of an issue yo play with, but nettle is "nutritive", meaning user-friendly.
Is is perhaps also "tonic"--I do not have my "school of Natural Healing" nearby, and forget. The distinction is not so critical. The bottom line is, it is the drug that's the issue, not the nettles. And it may be that the body, feeling instantly supported mineral-wise, feels free to 'dump' some of its garbage--which would result in a feeling of some discomfort. (this would then be compunded and magnified by the real culprit--the drug.)
This is why people have to take it slowly, sometimes. And most importantly, you can't reasonably mix drugs and the natural way -- and expect much beyond maybe
a bit of bandaid. And really, it's like mixing blck and white, and coming up simply grey(or gray)
Nettles can in no way harm you. But nothing is certain as long as you are taking the drugs, which I understand you (presently) feel you must. My mother sounds a lot like you -- the various symptoms/progression seem to agree, and the cortisone now means -for her- an injection. This is after a hip replacement. And after years of supression of what the body tired to throw off. (Bginning with asthma and excema. Does this sound familiar?)) I imagine you have the same history. or similar. If so, this is a huge burden. But I beleive it can be reversed. I hope you have in mind to wean off the Rx drugs.
Then there will be no issue with such as nettles. Though you also have to change the whole diet...and makes sure you are hydrated, etc. None of this works without the whole being addressed.
I'm sorry if this post sounds stren. I mean no offense.
best, C
