I think I might be able to avoid the whole breakout thing this time around, because it is my bet that it is directly tied an acid/base balance issue due to not having enough salt and other electrolytes/minerals. Everything I'm reading supports the use of supplementing minerals and electrolytes. We need sufficient salt (NaCl), calcium, magnesium, potassium etc for electrical conductivity for our muscle contractions -especially the heart muscle!-as well as renal functionality which completely determines fluid balance, which directly affects acid/base balance. Also, the rate at which nutrients are absorbed in the intestine determine acid base, so messing with different laxatives can really screw with that as well. This time around, I will get my supplements and electrolytes. I figure a calming hot cup of buillion cubes or powder, mixed with some garlic, cayenne and basil will give me the salt I need, and the rest will come from pills. Besides, I think we need daily vitamin C, too. Ester C is easier on the stomach than other forms, and I will not be taking a multi vitamin while fasting, because it would make me sicker than a dog.
