Re: Cortef..and INSPIRATION!

There is no reputable doctor who will tell you adrenal fatigue is the diagnosis. There's no such thing. If you failed a cortisol test, you are adrenal insufficient and should be seeing an endocrinologist. Your adrenal glands work or don't. OR your pituitary gland is not sending a signal to your adrenal glands to produce adrenalin.

What is this Stage 2 Stage 3 business? I just hate these holistic quacks.

I have no pituitary function (had an adrenal tumor, surgery and radiation in 1996), and one of the things I take replacement for is adrenal insufficiency (AI). 10 mg in the AM and another 5 in the pm is sufficient for most people. The body naturally produces about 10mg a day, and the extra 5mg is to make up for dosing and body differences. If you take too much hydrocortisone, you can give yourself pseudo Cushing's, which will compromise your internal organs.

Please find a well-qualified endocrinologist and get tested. Find out whether you have traditional Cushings or cyclic Cushings. You deserve it. If you are truly adrenal insufficient, one or two doses is all it takes to feel human again. Be sure the doctor has tested your aldosterone as well (middle level of adrenal gland function). Something else is going on with you.

I'm in the U.S.
