Re: psychological hurdles

Hello!...

I hate feeling like I can't drive or get my work done, I start to get scared that I'm wasting lots of time.

Hey there Shaynabee :),

If you believe fasting is amazingly beneficial as i do, then i believe you would find it useful to give yourself permission to relax and get little else done.

Do people keep up their normal activities while fasting?? Because I feel like it's dangerous for me to be out on the town when I can't think clearly.

Some do and others don't... and in an ideal fast they don't, though this is not always possible.

Is it really ok to lie around and read all day feeling dizzy?

It really is ;).

Will it help? I've never spent enough time pursuing this to get any real positive results. Does everyone benefit from fasting? It's hard to take that leap of faith.

A body that is fasting and resting has no choice but to cleanse and heal itself... and the longer we fast and rest, the more we will cleanse and heal.  In my case, the positive benefits have been unspeakable.

Who has time for this sort of thing? What does your daily schedule consist of when you're in the middle of a fast?

Not everybody, that's for sure. In my previous 2 long fasts i was able to designate time off for them.  My schedule in most days consisted of laying in bed for about 23 hours, mostly reading.  A couple of days i had to begrudgingly get up to pay bills and run essential errands... hated it :).

I get crazy emotional. Very over the top and dramatic mood swings. Is that normal?

I am not sure for how long you have fasted, and no doubt there can be emotions to work through, but at a certain point a fast can bring an amazing calm upon us. Something i have noticed though is that within this tremendous calm, i have zero strength and tolerance for conflict and anything stressful is amplified 10 fold.  Thus it is great to lay down all day (where possible) and avoid this.

I feel like it's hard for me to justify subjecting myself to that sort of pain...

All up to you of course.  It sounds like you have suffered greater turbulance than me.  My worst experience has been nausia towards the end of both fasts, though most days i felt pretty good.
