I understand the "gross reaction" but come on, wise up.
Many animals eat fecal remains. We would be eating them also if it was 10000 years ago, the freshly killed animals' organ meats and guts all smeared with the remains of broken intestines are a treat for our intestines. Most of our intestinal flora should come via that route.
The digestibilty of fermented foods all the result of the same basic process already established in our bodies.
Breakfast next, will be my own NattoMiso with Home Made AVC and fresh vegs, all loaded with contributory cultures.
Two interesting issues underlies this issue:
1: Is the reaction to fecal remains because, as a society, we do not recognise how important a good diet is. Not only for ourselves but also for the quality of our fecal remains.
2: Good quality fecal remains used correctly are excellent in agriculture. The pity is that usually sewerage sludge is poorly composted and loaded with heavy metals. Here the treated sludge is dumped as a waste product into forestry where supposedly it does least harm.
Sure some see it as gross but we need wise up on fecal remains.
