A year ago I had 2 dental implants in my lower left side jaw bone. One implant took and it is fine. The other, which is right next to the successful one, did not take. My oral surgeon took it out after weeks and weeks of antibiotics. He bone graphed the site and let it rest for 3 months before trying again. The second attempt was unsuccessful as well so he took it out and graphed it again. This time we waited 6 months and he did a third implant 3 weeks ago. It is painful and I am on 2 antibotics this time ( for the last 3 weeks). There is no swelling or bleeding just throbbing.
Can anyone tell me why one implant was sucessful while the implant right next to it isn't? I am really hoping this time it will work out but as each week passes I become for hopeless over it.
Is there anything else my doctor or I could do to help this heal?
