I admire your resolve, M.

Please don't keep the carbohydrates "very low".. do consider some fruit, salads and vegetables (or their juices). The risk of a "very" low carbohydrate diet is that this immedicately puts your proteins in the "firing line" as proteins are just carbohydrates with added nitrogen.

If you are exposed to proteins while still ketotic, your body will break down these proteins to get to the carbohydrates they were made from. This causes the release of nitrogen (as ammonia) which can be quite toxic if your liver cannot convert it to urea quickly (for which it needs some carbohydrate).

You may stay partly ketotic but then be sure to limit proteins to those in the fruit, salads or other vegetables, preferably avoiding high protein foods like beans or peas.

But there's nothing wrong with going totally anabolic for a few days, as the ketogenic enzymes will remain active "in the background" for up to 10 days, to be re-activated rapidly once called upon.
