The Answer To Your Question
Seems to me that buying a pound of each would be overkill to the extreme, I don't think you'd be able to use up a pound of each for a very long time.
Let me give you an example:
For a 5 day kidney cleanse Uny sells a 4oz. bag of tea. That is drinking 4-6 cups of tea a day, a cup being 8oz. There is enough dry tea to drink 6 cups of tea a day. The Kidney/Bladder tea has 12 herbs in it: Organic Juniper berry, Cornsilk, Uva Ursi leaf, Parsley root/leaf, Dandelion root/leaf, Horsetail grass, Goldenrod herb, Orange peel, Peppermint leaf, Hydrangea root, Gravel root, Marshmallow root.
Imagine the tiny amount of each herb it takes to make up a 4oz. bag. Not much I'd say but of course Uny says you can store herbs anywhere from 6 months to a year as long as they're stored in an airtight container, after that you could always freeze them.
When I started tincturing I bought in excess of 25 pounds, I think it was like 26 or 27 pounds and now that I've got it all here I truly don't think I'll be able to use them up in my lifetime lol!
What I did was look at the cost of like 4oz. vs. a pound to see how much money I'd be saving by ordering a pound of each, taking shipping costs into consideration. Some herbs are really cheap but some are really expensive.
Here are our suppliers:
Mountain Rose Herbs
Pacific Botanicals
Hope this will give you a little direction for how much of each to buy. I just feel like I would rather order a smaller amount and it be fresh than to have stored it for a lifetime lol.
Blessings,
Willow
