How to Ensure a Good Stool Collection for Parasite Testing?
Is there a way to "prepare" (for the collection a good stool specimen) so that
parasites can show up more during
parasite testing? I understand that stool testing for
parasites can sometimes be hit-or-miss.
Other than collecting a stool sample around the time of a full moon, I was just wondering if anyone had suggestions as to what one can do to ensure that
parasites show up in the stool samples so that they can be detected during
parasite testing.
* Would drinking more water around the time of collection help? Perhaps, this would help to lubricate the tract more - therefore, causing the parasites and/or their eggs to disembed from the tract.
* Would eating more fiber around the time of collection help? I would think that this would help to soften the stools, and cause the parasites and/or their eggs to disembed as well.
* Is there anything that we should eat more of prior to the time of collection?
* Other than
Antibiotics , antifungals, and antiparasitic medications, is there anything that we should avoid prior to the time of collection?
* Is it okay to take multivitamins up to the day of stool collection?
I'd like to hear anyone's suggestions or comments.
Thanks so much!
