Re: My Post Fast

Hey everyone... I ended my fast last night a around 11:30pm.. so it was approximately 10 days plus 30 minutes.

Hey Catch22 :).

A huge congratulations to you in reaching your 10 day goal.  Oops, sorry... 10 days and 30 minutes : ).

I ended it with two oranges that I juiced and diluted half and half with water which actually made two glasses. I drank the first glass and got pretty tired, but it was so good I made myself stay awake another hour so I could drink the second one. I was still full from the first glass when I got to the second, so only got through halfway of that...

Sounds exciting. I didn't mention this earlier and everybody's situation is different, but when i break a fast i will generally start with like 2 tablespoons, wait 5 minutes then have 4, wait 5 more minutes and have 6... and quickly work my way up to larger portions, comfortably drinking a half or full glass of 50/50 juice within an hour of breaking the fast. There is a notable difference between a 10 and 30 day fast, yes, but i have always done this even in breaking 7 day fasts, erring, especially in that first hour, on the side of extreme gentleness.

When you got pretty tired, that sounds like you slightly overtaxed digestion, but with juice you can get away with a lot more than with whole fruits so the effects were quite mild and seemingly very short lived.

... then a little later(1.5 hr from first glass) I had a BM. Nice! LOL.

This is great. Happened to me the same way at the end of my most recent fast (or one or more of them), about 60 or 90 minutes from the first taste of juice.

Woke up this morning and made a green juice. I put half a cucumber, handful of cilantro, handful of spinach, 1 inch piece of ginger, and one apple.

Sounds great again... with one possible exception. A little known fact about cilantro is that it will stir up mercury stored in your body. I wouldn't eat it unless i had chlorella about a half hour prior to the cilantro as it has the amazing capacity to absorb the mercury safely for elimination. If interested you can google mercury chelation and/or chlorella/cilantro. About a year ago, I prefasted with a lot of juice and 5 or 7 days of Mercury chelation. Amalgam dental work and fish contain Mercury in substantial amounts.

Somehow that all fit into a pint glass. Pretty tasty..I think the apple did the trick.

I have no doubt that it was tasty and that the apple did the trick :).

Ok I'll stop with the food.. This is a fasting forum!

I personally don't mind and even enjoy reading about people's refeeding experiences as i see it as an essential extension of the fast itself. I'm not sure if there is a policy against it? I've seen some people say at the top of their post: Warning, explicit food talk below :). As a side note i have been operating on zero physical hunger in the past 10.7 days, 13.7 days into the fast, so you could have been talking about global politics and it would have had the same effect :). Whatever is my desire to enjoy delicious juices, it is a desire reserved for the end of my fast and i don't believe it will be disturbingly awakened until then.

I owe a big thank you to all of you who have been kind enough to answer my questions, offer advice, and give your support. Couldn't have made it with out each and everyone of you. Happy Fasting!

Mighty gracious of you to express your gratitude to everyone. You're most welcome for my part. It has been a pleasure interacting with you.
