Juices in Refeeding

... and like you said I'm playing it safe. Maybe too safe?

Safe is juices for 2 or 3 days after a 10 day fast, any and all juices with rare exceptions (see below). Only OJ and watermelon juice for 3 days while certainly fine is not necessary and it doesn't provide your body with the opportunity to nourish itself more completely.

I believe in most cases of breaking a fast almost all juices are safe, but your intuition plays an important part. I love carrot juice and generally this would be among the juices i would enjoy on day one or two, but after my recent 30 day (uncompleted) fast i felt (by smelling the carrots) that in this case it was not going to agree with me. But after 10 days and emerging feeling good, you are likely to have carte blanch, allowing you to enjoy any juices you want.

So as long as its a vegetable/fruit and I throw it in the juicer I'm good? That would be awesome.

You bet :). Have a great time with it :).

Did you happen to see the Lemon Ginger Blast recipe that put in my Day 9 post? Here it is:

— 2 Apples
— 1-3 in. piece Ginger
— 1 Lemon (UNpeeled if organic; peeled if not organic)
— 1 bunch Cilantro
— 1 bunch Parsley
— 1 bunch Arugula
— 3 Habaneros
— 1 Cucumber

I would like to try this drink ASAP...

I did and it looks very interesting and a bit exciting :p. I would like to try it as well.

...do you think its ok to take in post fast day 2?

The only thing that makes me nervous is the 3 habaneros as they are one of the hottest chili peppers on the planet. If it was me coming off a fast i would test that less agressively first, as in trying a tiny bit with 1/10th the ratio of habanero at first.

Also, the most digestively simple of all foods would be a mono juice, but since juice is predigested and so very simple, it doesn't get overly complicated by mixing several together.

You might try Carrot/beet/celery/parsley/ginger. I like it with a dash of cayanne (or habanero) and a dash of curry. A bit of spinach would work here too. I also enjoy the juices of pineapple, grapefruit, tomatos, apples, pears, grapes, strawberries, and red/yellow/orange bell peppers among others that are not immediately coming to mind.

Others you can experiment with in sips are broccoli, asparagus, leafy lettuce, kale, collard greens, swiss chard and a lot of other vegetables. Each of them to me is surprisingly decent, though there was a time years ago that i tried raw kale juice and absolutely didn't like it. These are of course great cooked up into a broth as well (along with tomato juice which to me "makes it".

I am all for going and getting some more ingredients if you think its ok...

I absolutely do. When you are ready to advance to whole fruits i would indeed recommend mono meals, but mono "days" are not at all essential. It's much more important to have one fruit in the stomach at a time than to have that one fruit all day. Later as you progress digestively, 2 or more fruits at a time are fine (but still not the ultimate in terms of digestive simplicity).

right now I just have a watermelon, oranges, and some apples and mangos which I'm planning on having as my first solid food. Let me know what you think.

I like it. That and more variety would make it even better.

You mentioned that you've been viewing some juicing videos and you peaked my interest in this for my own forthcoming transition. Do you have easy access to link some of your favorites?

Thanks much, Mighty.
