..doing a bit of reading on Lugol's..
immediately run into THIS annoying bit:
2007 DEA regulation in the United States
However, effective August 1, 2007, the DEA now regulates Lugol's solution
(and, in fact, all Iodine solutions containing greater than 2.2% iodine)
as a List I precursor because it may potentially be used in the illicit
production of methamphetamine. However, transactions of up to one
fluid ounce (30 ml) of Lugol's solution are exempt from this regulation.
By contrast, Lugol'sIodine solution is available over the counter in Canada and Mexico.
..because the solution MIGHT be misused by the crime
oriented folks..gov't basically makes it..illegal.
..what next..trees can be fashioned into weapons..so
why not regulate trees..
..already several plants have been outlawed..
because folks might use them in ways the gov't does
not approve of. Heck, the guvvamint went after apricot
kernels a few years back. [the apricot growers wielded
some political clout on THAT decision..guvvamint had to
back up a bit on declaring all out war on apricots.
hey..mr G man..how about being content to enforce
REAL lawbreaking..you find someone MAKING dangerous
drugs in their basement..throw THOSE raskals into the
clink, but leave the "building blocks" alone.
