Re: How Come my Refeeding Seems More Difficult than the WF Itself???
"I have read that a fast "to completion" leaves the intestines quite sterile. This is really compelling to me because people talk about there being some "beneficial bacteria" and this is accepted; but I know an old-time author I read said it was a myth that you needed bacteria in your system -- or, that the need for them was exaggerated. Some bacteria kill yeast overgrowth (candida), and i think this is how the talk of "beneficial bacteria" arose; but many people have no yeast in their systems at all, and this seems to be the preferable condition, to me... fasting would of course kill the yeast as well..."
Hi there Powerray,
There are many benefits that beneficial bacteria provide as provided in the following quote.
"Friendly bacteria are vital to proper development of the immune system, to protection against microorganisms that could cause disease, and to the digestion and absorption of food and nutrients. Each person's mix of bacteria varies. Interactions between a person and the microorganisms in his body, and among the microorganisms themselves, can be crucial to the person's health and well-being."

The majority of people through poor eating habits have cultivated a very unfavorable balance between healthy and unhealthy bacteria, ie: 20%/80% where it should be much closer to 80/20. As you said, a fast of about 10 days or longer will sterilize all bacteria and this provides an individual the opportunity to rebuild that ratio to optimal with healthy diet and probiotics.
