Re: raising serotonin- with 5-HTP- stops sugar cravings?
So, raising serotonin helps stop sugar addiction? What's a good way to kick a sugar habit?
If the cravings are from low serotonin. Carbohydrates in the absence of protein will stimulate a release of tryptophan, which converts to serotonin. Some people crave carbohydrates because of this increase in serotonin.
If it not from low serotonin then a person could try glutamine at least 30 minutes before meals or put some straight stevia extract on their tongue.
After searching your forum I found this about raising serotonin with 5-HTP. curezone.com/forums/fm.asp
Will 5-HTP help stop the sugar/carb cravings, or is there something better?
Again it depends on the cause. Low serotonin is only one cause. But if it is low serotonin then the 5-HTP can work or even chamomile, which is sweet anyway and is the richest herbal source of tryptophan, the precursor for 5-HTP and serotonin.
And, a warning that too much serotonin can be dangerous...

Yes, too much serotonin can be dangerous. Especially when elevated in the bloodstream as opposed to the brain. This is what happened with the Phen Fen fiasco.
