PCR testing is done for blood and stool, so it does show intestinal overgrowth. Candida infections spread in the blood in immunocompetent individuals and is routinely missed on testing of blood. Immuncompromoise is not a prerequisite for systemic candida. False negatives are not rare and occur in many individuals. All testing requires interpretation, which is why I said it's best to look at several factors.
