Re: Women and christianity.
Bewnyfur, you have given some great examples of why critical thinking is so necessary. If a person does not educate themselves, and use critical thinking, they leave themselves open and vunerable to the con artists, in every area of life.
This is what my friend did, when she joined the christian faith. She looked at the beliefs, (particularly the ones about women), and found that they were just as misogynistic as those in her previous faith, just not openly so.
"love thy neighbour", may be fundamental to christianity, but as christianity relies on interpretation and belief, and not tangible evidence, that can be tested and examined, it is open to all sorts of interpretation.
If "love thy neighbour" was the base of christianity, there would be no reason to cling to the bible as a book of laws. The bible would be irrelevant to being a christian.
