Yep, I've seen the same thing with the word skeptic, I am a skeptical person, I don't take on a belief as true because someone else says it is. I examine the theory and whatever evidence there is to support it, for myself.

I've noticed lately the word skeptic being used in a derogatory manner to describe people who question alternative medicine. Alternative medicine should be no more exempt from scrutiny, testing, questioning , than mainstream medicine. Just as christianity is not exempt from questioning and scrutiny.

I don't think any belief system should be beyond scrutiny and questioning, when scrutiny and questioning are discouraged, it makes me wonder what they are trying to hide.
