Re: Have we been given this understanding?
Still, remember that the "sower of seeds" is a PARABLE.
Parables do have a 'logical progression' type of 'food for thought wisdom', but they are not to be the source of wisdom for the Godly person (our MIND/spirit is supposed to be our source when we learn from God's spirit).
Romans 12:2
"be transformed by the renewal of the MIND".
Soldiers have a fighting spirit, sports players have a team spirit,.....OUR spirit is supposed to be GODLY ('Godlike'), not 'bookly'.
"Christians" have always learned to be "bookly" people (as opposed to "GODLY PEOPLE"). We are to "HEAR" His "VOICE" when God speaks to our conscience (assuming we've ever developed one and made a habit of listening to it,....this is the need for a "SELF"/"spirit").
John 10:1
"he who does not enter the sheepfold by the door but climbs in by another way, that man is a thief and a robber".
John 10:27
"My sheep hear my voice".....but for the 'climbers',....
....."their ears are dull of hearing" and....
Isaiah 29:13
"their fear of me is a commandment of men learned by rote".
As a routine, the "climbers" have learned to FEAR God so they can imagine themselves as being "daring" and brave. It's the prideful and egotistical delusions that have misled us for the last 1950-2000 years (the moneychangers with the collection plates have cheered us on because they have their own agenda,....unwittingly but irresponsibly).
So, if we can manage to stop living by every word that HAS PROCEEDED from God's mouth 2000 years ago and earlier, then we can HEAR God when our spirit/conscience/self discerns properly between good and evil (the DISCERNING "sword")...
Ephesians 6:17
"sword of the spirit, which is the WORD OF GOD".
God always wanted us to know how to properly discern/distinguish between good and evil (the knowledge misused since the Garden of Eden)...
Hebrews 5:14
"But solid food is for the mature, for those who have their faculties trained by practice to distinguish good from evil".
Scripture is the "doctrine of Christ" (Hebrews 6:1 and 2 John verse 9) and tells us that, unlike the Hebrews, we now have BOTH the Father AND the Son (their spirit is of course with them both....Christ IS the "trinity").
So, whoever can believe in themselves enough so they no longer have need of PRIDE, they will be able to see the truth ("depths of God", 1 Corinthians 2:10) of God....
.........."blessed are your eyes, for they see; and your ears, for they hear".
