 I don't know if there is *much* of a difference between qualities of pollen - I'm sure there is some, but it's mostly the bees doing the work and I don't think some bees are less qualitylike in china than say america because they're bees not people

Actually  a lot of the pollen is not harvested by bees anymore. Mechanical means have been employed to harvest pollen for a number of years. This is why the price has come down so much. No more having to pay those union wages to the bees and the extra taxes to the queen.

it's only $5.70 a pound.

That is an excellent price. Actually that is less than the price I got quoted by several raw material suppliers, who supply the wholesalers.
