ALT sometimes rises during detox

When detoxing with MSM, I had no symptoms of liver, gallbladder, or pancreas problems, but I did have classic detox symptoms such as headache.

I had a routine blood panel and my ALT was about 50% higher than normal. My doc retested me a few weeks later, after I stopped MSM and it had dropped to normal.

The liver is under extra stress during any cleanse, since it has to filter the toxins being dumped by the cells from blood and lymph into the waste system. When the liver is under stress, enzyme levels rise to support detoxification. Giving the liver/kidneys a chance to recover and rest is one reason we're told to cleanse at intervals, not continuously.
