Back and forth to different docs and all they say is I have Hashimoto's because my SED rate's high and my thyroid's non existant.
This is a great example of my belief that doctors are way too reliant on lab tests. I was lecturing in San Diego a few years ago and there was a doctor in the audience. She got mad at me when I made a comment to this effect. But they too often fail to look at the overall picture and focus only on a small part of the picture utilizing lab tests to back their assumptions.
In this case they assumed the high SED rate was a result of a thyroid issue and ignored the other symptoms. A high SED rate can indicate a number of things including rheumatoid arthritis. Based on your other symptoms the doctor should have also ordered other tests including CRP, rheumatoid factors and an anti-CCP antibody test.
