Animals do have emotions, but what the drug companies are trying to do is athropomorphise animals, and treat them the way they do human beings.

Animals have emotions, but they do not have the same emotions/feelings/thoughts, as humans, neither can they reason, or understand why we treat them badly. Have you ever tried to explain to your dog why he/she really needs to have a bath, or why you have to leave them alone. It doesn't work, because they are not human.

Although animals don't think and feel as humans do, I often think they are a whole lot smarter than many humans are.
