The truth
I'm not for or against one halide or another, each has its place in the universe. I'm trying to figure out how they interact with each other and within us.
I recall reading something on the breastcanceralternatives.org Web site about
Iodine related Bromide symptoms and they stated one as acne.
Thus, I looked at their sources and ended up here:
http://www.gulflink.osd.mil/library/randrep/pb_paper/mr1018.2.chap10.html
A quote from there: "Some patients will develop "bromoderma," an acne-like "papular" (raised) eruption of the face and hands (Horowitz, 1997; Wacks, Oster, et al., 1990);"
Whether these two sources are accurate in their conclusion, I don't exactly know cause I haven't been able to read the original research.
After digging a little, is there a way to get the original writing from
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/2368710
?
Also, the following reference requires a subscription I believe:
Horowitz, B., "Bromism from Excessive Cola Consumption," Clinical Toxicology, 35(3), 1997, pp. 315-320.
However, MD's Abraham and Brownstein point to
Acne after high doses of Sodium Chloride. But I'm not sure I would come to the same conclusion as Bromide displacement.

As a side note, I've found that when talking about any "type" of element, most people do not discern the differing chlorine, chloride, chlorite, or chlorate when discussing them. Most people aren't scientists and don't use chemical names with precision, increasing chances of confusion and error in communication. Rant end!
